Who do you spend the most time with?

We may name many names to answer this prompt, but the truth lies— we all spend most of our time with ourselves. Be it negative or positive, doing something productive or staying in a quiet ‘meditation’ of overthinking.

Whatever we do, we know well that even when we’re interacting with humans, we’re always calibrating inside our heads on what the other person is thinking, what to say next or what not to.

Even inside our heads, we are in a constant relay of thoughts, judgements, observations, contemplation, action, reaction, reflection— reminding ourselves repeatedly that we are never alone. At least until we have a mind that keeps us entertained or should I say, engaged!

Unless… you spend most of your time with your phone! That’s a different case study altogether.

This is such an insightful perspective. It’s true—no matter how much we engage with others, our minds are constantly processing, analyzing, and reflecting. We truly do spend the most time with ourselves. The challenge, I suppose, is making sure that time is spent in a way that nourishes rather than exhausts.

And yes, the phone situation—that’s a whole different conversation!
